A Columbus Police officer who was relieved of duty after offering to pay a woman for sex is back at work.
Officer Helal Daoud has worked for the Columbus Police for two years. He was placed on leave in November.
As the Columbus Dispatch first reported, a woman told police Daoud connected with her on Snapchat and sent her his photo. After she stopped responding to Daoud, he continued sending her messages, sometimes more than 40 to 50 over several weeks.
He began offering her money to hang out and eventually asked her to have a sexual encounter.
In an interview with investigators, Daoud admitted to sending the messages asking for money in exchange for sex.
Police spokesperson Sgt. Chantay Boxill says Daoud is undergoing a robust retraining process per the recommendation of his commander.
