Is Ohio Still Purple?
Ohio Republicans had a great night on Tuesday, sweeping the statewide races with Governor-electMike DeWine at the helm. The blue wave that had been predicted nationally barely struck Ohio, which saw Republicans winning all their re-election bids plus one open seat.
While Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown was re-elected, the night gave a tough loss for Richard Cordray, who had maintained a tie with DeWine throughout the governor campaign. Democrats did pick up two seats on the Ohio Supreme Court, though, including the court's first elected African-American woman.
Too Soon
As he heads into his third term, Brown's name is now being grouped in with other prominent Democratic Senators who may be setting their sights on a presidential run in 2020.
