DeWine Mandates Masks
The governor has made wearing a face mask mandatory in 12 Ohio counties where the state says there is very high exposure and spread of the coronavirus. Masks must be worn inside public settings as well as in outdoor spaces where social distancing is not possible.
Other counties that start to experience high spread will also fall under the mandate. Hamilton County and Cuyahoga County are on the verge of being elevated to the highest level under the state's Public Health Advisory System due to extreme exposure and spread of the disease.
The move comes after many communities like Columbus, Dayton, Cleveland, and Cincinnati - as well as Central Ohio suburbs like Bexley, Dublin, Grandview Heights, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Westerville and Whitehall and Worthington - already enacted face mask mandates.
DeWine tried to implement a state-wide mask mandate for consumers inside businesses back in late April, only to reverse course the next day after feedback from businesses.
Snollygoster Of The Week: Nino Vitale
Ultra conversative State Rep. Nino Vitale (R-Urbana) is urging people to stop getting tested for COVID-19. Vitale, who is from the same hometown of Rep. Jim Jordan, falsely claims getting tested for the coronovirus "gives the government an excuse to claim something that is happening at the magnitude that they say it has happened."
